Welcome to the Chorlton Chapters book club.
We are a small group of people living in and around Chorlton who get together to share a mutual love of reading. The Club started on March 16, 2006 and currently meets on the last Wednesday of every month to discuss the book we selected to read for that month, and to choose the next book.
Nineteen of us went out for dinner on Saturday 7 March. Although several parties have been organised and enjoyed over the years this was the first "formal" Chapters' social event. To see more photos and more news of social events, go to the Social page.
The Chorlton Chapters website has recently moved! At the moment, not very much has changed - except we've dumped the forum. It was getting very overgrown and cobwebby without any visitors at all. So for the time being you won't notice a difference, but all that will change when we unveil our planned new look sometime in the not-too-distant future.
We opened our popular Book Swap stall again last summer at the Beech Road Festival where despite the rain much fun and swapping was had by all. Here we are under a very welcome gazebo.

The club was involved in 2007's Chorlton Book Festival. We held Book Swap on the afternoons of Saturday 14 April and Saturday 24 November from 2-4pm in Chorlton Library, and also a soiree on Wednesday 25 April, again at the Library, where folk chilled out with a glass of wine and talked about the club, and how to join or start one of their own.
On Monday 16 April 2007 we played host to a film crew from Granada TV who were filming footage to be used in a new book quiz entitled The Book Quiz. Hosted by David Baddiel this started its run on BBC Four on Tuesday 17 July 2007 at 11pm. There were five instalments and our clip aired in the last one, which was shown on August 14.
If you are interested in joining please email us (details on the Entrée page) and someone will get in touch.
